Celebrate National Infant Immunization Week by Enrolling in Florida SHOTS

National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW), an annual observance that highlights the importance of immunizing infants against 14 vaccine-preventable diseases by age two, kicks off on Saturday, April 24, 2010, with the theme “Love them. Protect them. Immunize them.”
Infants are particularly vulnerable to infectious diseases, and it is critical to make sure that they are protected by immunizations. Because national immunization levels remain high and Florida’s immunization coverage of children aged two is at 83.4 percent, parents may be unaware that their children are at risk for so many serious and life-threatening diseases. Healthcare providers can play a critical role in educating parents about the importance of immunization and ensuring that infants are fully immunized.
Florida SHOTS recognizes the importance of keeping immunization records safe, updated and accessible and works with health-care providers, schools and childcare centers throughout the state of Florida to simplify record keeping in a free, statewide online registry.
Florida SHOTS protects the records that protect Florida’s health. To learn more about Florida SHOTS enrollment and benefits, please visit www.flshots.com or call (877) 888-SHOT.
