Florida SHOTS™: Keeping SHOTS in Check

Time is running out to qualify for the 2011 EHR technology subsidy. Eligible healthcare professionals and hospitals can qualify for Medicare and Medicaid incentive payments when they adopt EHR technology.

Florida SHOTS data upload meets meaningful use specs.

Data upload allows your office to enter shot records once into your medical software for export and upload to the registry, boosting productivity and saving time. If your office has not yet adopted an EHR, many options are available that have data upload linkages to the registry. Contact a Florida SHOTS representative at 877-888-SHOT(7648) for a complete list of software providers with a data upload link.

Florida SHOTS is pleased to promote the debut of a groundbreaking documentary, Immunization: A Dose of Reality, which explores the origination, evolution and purpose of vaccinations while also explaining the health benefits of vaccinations in today’s society.

The film will be airing on PBS stations across Florida this week.

• South Florida (from Martin to the Keys) on WPBT on Tuesday, October 25, at 11:00 p.m., and Thursday, October 27, at 2:00 a.m.
• Daytona Beach (can also be seen in Orlando) on WDSC on Thursday, October 27, at 7:00 p.m.
• Jacksonville (First Coast area) on WJCT channel 7.4 on Friday, October 28, at 7:00 p.m.

This Friday is the final day for video submissions for the You Call the Shots PSA competition. All videos must be submitted on YouCalltheShotsFlorida.com by midnight on October 21. Let all the kids and teens (ages 11 - 18) in your practice know Friday is the deadline.

Does your office use Epic software? If so you can join the hundreds of doctors already uploading records to the Florida SHOTS database.

Here’s how:
1. Contact your local Epic support team to order the Florida SHOTS immunization interface.
2. Contact Holly Graff, Florida SHOTS Technology Field Representative, at 877-888-SHOT (7468) option 3, or Holly_Graff@doh.state.fl.us to complete the form and receive a secure ftp site from Florida SHOTS. Immunization data will be automatically uploaded to Florida SHOTS on a daily basis.
